Lucro is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Tax Advisory Manager to help lead and build our tax strategy and compliance function.

This role is ideal for a tax professional who wants to move beyond traditional tax preparation and play a meaningful advisory role with clients. The Tax Advisory Manager will work directly with service based healthcare entrepreneurs to provide proactive tax planning, strategic guidance, and high quality compliance support.

The right person will combine strong technical tax knowledge with clear communication, practical problem solving, and a desire to help build a scalable tax department. This is a client facing, leadership oriented role with the opportunity to shape Lucro’s tax services, systems, workflows, and team structure over time.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax planning and advisory work for small business owners, healthcare entrepreneurs, and related entities.
• Develop and implement practical tax strategies designed to help clients manage their tax position effectively and make more informed business decisions.
• Prepare, review, and support the filing of individual and small business tax returns, including returns for S corporations, sole proprietors, partnerships, and related entities.
• Advise clients on estimated tax payments, owner compensation, deductions, entity structure, tax savings opportunities, and year round planning considerations.
• Communicate complex tax concepts clearly and practically to clients in a consulting based environment.
• Help build Lucro’s tax department by developing internal processes, planning workflows, client deliverables, compliance calendars, quality control standards, and team resources.
• Collaborate with Lucro’s accounting, bookkeeping, client success, and advisory teams to ensure clients receive coordinated financial guidance.
• Support seasonal tax compliance efforts while helping the business move toward a more proactive, year round tax advisory model.
• Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes, department efficiency, and the overall quality of Lucro’s tax service offering.
• Over time, help recruit, train, and lead additional tax team members as the department grows.

Requirements

• Strong experience in tax planning, tax preparation, and tax advisory work for individuals and small businesses.
• Experience with S corporations, sole proprietors, LLCs, partnerships, and owner operated businesses.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance, deductions, estimated payments, reasonable compensation, entity structure, and small business tax strategy.
• Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
• CPA, EA, or similar tax qualification preferred.
• Strong client communication skills with the ability to explain tax concepts clearly and confidently.
• Ability to think strategically while also managing detailed compliance work.
• Experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines, client expectations, and seasonal tax workflows.
• Leadership mindset with a desire to help build a department, improve systems, and contribute to long term business growth.

This role is remote and requires strong communication, accountability, and the ability to work effectively with both clients and internal team members.

Compensation

Lucro offers competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, and role fit. Department based performance incentives may also be available as the tax function develops.
