Design Engineer – OEM Solutions
Position Summary
The Design Engineer will support the development of OEM machine arrangements, hydraulic routing systems, and integration solutions across all platforms. This role involves creating design concepts, developing hydraulic routing packages, leading design reviews, managing engineering releases, and collaborating with internal engineering teams, factories, suppliers, and OEM customers.
The ideal candidate will bring strong design experience, hydraulic routing expertise, Creo modeling skills, and the ability to work independently within a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design hydraulic hose routing systems and OEM machine arrangement packages for Caterpillar products.
- Develop engineering concepts, detailed designs, and installation kits to support OEM customer requirements.
- Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Creo.
- Lead design reviews and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure design quality and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and manage engineering wrappers and support release activities through Teamcenter.
- Apply design standards, specifications, and best practices throughout the product development process.
- Coordinate with OEM engineering teams, manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, structural, and mechanical system issues and recommend design improvements.
- Support product validation, testing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, GD&T requirements, and Caterpillar design processes.
Typical Day-to-Day Activities
- Designing hydraulic routing systems on machines.
- Creating OEM arrangement concepts, installation kits, and engineering packages.
- Leading and participating in design review meetings.
- Collaborating with OEM design control leads and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Managing engineering releases and documentation through Teamcenter.
- Supporting design validation and issue resolution activities.
- Working closely with factories, suppliers, and OEM customers to support project execution.
Team & Work EnvironmentTeam Structure
- Reports within the OEM Solutions Engineering organization.
- Works under the guidance of an OEM Design Control Lead.
- Collaborates closely with OEM engineering teams, BHDC resources, manufacturing facilities, and external partners.

Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
- Equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience.
- Strong product design and development experience.
- Experience supporting engineering releases and product development activities.
Required Technical Skills
- Caterpillar Teamcenter experience.
- Hydraulic hose routing and hydraulic system design experience.
- Caterpillar design and detailing experience.
- Proficiency with:
- HVC
- SIS
- QRWB
- Creo Parametric and solid modeling expertise.
- Strong understanding of:
- Engineering drawings
- GD&T
- 1E Specifications
- Product design and release processes

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
