Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing in overseeing all clinical operations of the agency. This leadership role supports quality patient care, staff development, regulatory compliance, and clinical performance while ensuring adherence to Medicare Conditions of Participation and California Home Health regulations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Home Health RN looking to grow into senior clinical leadership.
Responsibilities
As Assistant Director of Nursing, you will:
· Support daily clinical operations across the agency.
· Supervise and mentor Registered Nurses and clinical staff.
· Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care is delivered consistently.
· Review clinical documentation for quality and regulatory compliance.
· Participate in patient assessments and clinical case reviews.
· Assist with staff orientation, training, and ongoing education.
· Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
· Help prepare for state surveys, accreditation visits, and regulatory audits.
· Investigate and resolve patient care concerns in a timely manner.
· Assist with hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of clinical staff.
· Monitor clinical outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
· Coordinate with operations, scheduling, and billing teams to support efficient patient care delivery.
· Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and agency policies.
Qualifications
Required
· Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
· Meets California requirements to serve as a DPCS Designee for a Medicare-certified Home Health agency
· Minimum of three (3) years of Home Health, primary care, or healthcare facility experience within the past five years
· At least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience
· Strong knowledge of Medicare Home Health regulations and clinical documentation
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred
· Previous Assistant DON, Clinical Manager, Clinical Supervisor, or Director of Nursing experience
· Experience with OASIS documentation and Medicare regulations
· Experience leading quality improvement initiatives
· Strong coaching and mentoring abilities
