Cheroenhaka Nottoway Enterprises, LLC (CNE) is a growing SBA 8(a) and HUBZone-certified, tribally owned general contractor specializing in Federal construction throughout the Mid-Atlantic and across the United States. Our Mechanical Division performs HVAC, plumbing, piping, and specialty mechanical work for agencies including the Department of War, NIH, USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, FBI, DHS and many others.

As a signatory contractor with Steamfitters Local 602 and Plumbers Local 5, we work alongside highly skilled union craftsmen to deliver complex mechanical systems for mission-critical Government facilities.

Position Summary

We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Mechanical Division and support the successful delivery of Federal construction projects.

Whether you're beginning your career or already managing project scopes independently, we'll match responsibilities to your experience and provide opportunities to grow into a Project Manager role.

You'll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and Government clients to keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
• Assist with procurement of mechanical equipment and materials.
• Support project scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking.
• Coordinate with field teams to ensure materials, labor, and equipment are available.
• Review drawings and specifications for constructability and coordination issues.
• Participate in project meetings with owners, subcontractors, and design teams.
• Monitor project progress and help resolve field issues.
• Support project closeout, commissioning, and turnover activities

Depending on your experience, you may also independently manage project scopes, mentor junior team members, lead procurement efforts, and support overall project execution.

Qualifications

We're interested in candidates with a range of experience, from recent graduates to experienced Assistant Project Managers.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree (preferred)
• Experience with commercial or Federal mechanical construction
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, or hydronic systems
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6 is a plus
• Ability to pass government background checks
• Strong work ethics and a "can do" spirit

Federal construction experience is highly preferred but not required.
