We are seeking a dynamic and highly knowledgeable MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and Workplace Safety Instructor to lead safety training programs across various industries, including mining, manufacturing, construction, and more. This position has primary responsibility for developing, coordinating, and delivering mine safety training programs for surface and underground mining operations, including MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 New Miner and Annual Refresher Training. This role is vital in promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement by delivering engaging instruction on OSHA regulations, technical skills, and safety protocols. Duties
Develop comprehensive curriculum and instructional materials aligned with MSHA regulations and industry best practices.
Delivers MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 New Miner Training and Annual Refresher Training in accordance with applicable MSHA requirements.
Coordinates and conducts comprehensive New Miner Training programs that include:
Assess student progress through evaluations, practical demonstrations, and feedback to ensure mastery of safety procedures and technical competencies.
Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of prior experience in manufacturing or construction settings.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on MSHA requirements, and industry advancements to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
Assists mine operators and employers in developing and implementing effective workplace safety and health programs.
Conducts worksite inspections, mine site assessments, and hazard evaluations to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
Prepares detailed inspection reports, recommends corrective actions, and provides guidance regarding applicable OSHA, MSHA, and industry standards.
Facilitates learning through classroom, hands-on, virtual, and field-based delivery methods.
Maintains DDC, First Aid/CPR, OSHA, MSHA, and other instructor certifications as required or approved by the Executive Director.
Maintains accurate training records and documentation required by MSHA, OSHA, and NDSC.
Prepares and submits required reports, certifications, and tracking documentation in a timely manner.
Reviews assigned safety plans for the ECCS program and submits recommendations and edits in a timely manner.
Identifies internal and external training opportunities to address customer and industry safety training needs.
Develops, updates, and delivers mine safety curriculum, training presentations, practical exercises, and participant materials.
Organizes, develops, or sources training programs and methodologies to maintain current regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
Collaborates with subject matter experts regarding mine safety, occupational safety, and instructional design.
Develops training aids, manuals, handbooks, and reference materials.
Partners with mining operations, contractors, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders as assigned.
Represents NDSC at mining conferences, industry events, safety meetings, exhibitions, and trade shows.
Maintains a strong working knowledge of all NDSC services and communicates available resources and training opportunities to customers.
Administers and evaluates participant feedback and training effectiveness measures.
