OSI currently has openings for entry level and experienced Hydrographers. On-the-job training will be provided for all levels of experience. These positions represent an opportunity for engineers and scientists who are interested in a career involving lakebed, riverbed and seafloor mapping using state-of-the-art remote sensing instrumentation. OSI hydrographers utilize standard single beam (single and dual frequency), multibeam, and side scan sonar to map bottom topography, bedforms, natural and manmade debris, and to create 3D imagery of sites. Duties include project setup, vessel mobilization, fieldwork, data processing, analysis of survey results, report preparation, client liaison and all other activities associated with our firm’s scientific and engineering support services.

Work will include a mix of field and office assignments, with domestic and international travel as an integral part of the job. Applicant should expect travel assignments of periods from one day to several weeks.

Qualifications: The preferred applicant will have a BS/BE degree in a marine, earth science, or engineering discipline (or other closely related field). Related work experience preferred. Small boat handling experience highly desired. Vessel or drone operator licensing a plus.

Strong computer skills are a must. Knowledge and experience with Hypack, CARIS, Sonarwiz, POSPac, ARCGIS, MATLAB, Global Mapper, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite, a plus.
