POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Analyst position is responsible for collecting, processing, validating, and performing statistical analyses of data. They will work with management, leadership, Quality Department and/or the EHR Specialist (ESA) to determine and prioritize business and information needs. The Data Analyst will then acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and interpret that data, providing reports to management and leadership. Best practices will be employed to analyze large amounts of data while maintaining intense attention to detail and data integrity. The overarching role of the Data Analyst is to review data from primary or secondary data sources, interpret and analyze the data to help improve overall quality while maintaining strong attention to detail to share/present the data to management and leadership. The Data Analyst supports clinical, operational, financial, regulatory, and quality improvement initiatives across the organization through accurate data analysis and reporting. This role reports to the Quality Director, or QA Manager when the Quality Director is unavailable.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Acts as a member of the KCHC Healthcare Team in the provision of health services to individuals, families, and/or their communities. Works collaboratively with other members of the KCHC Healthcare Team to accomplish shared goals within and across settings to achieve coordinated, high-quality care.
1. Gather and interpret data, analyzing results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
2. Import, clean, transform, validate or model data with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data for decision making purposes as well as improving data quality.
3. Provide concise data reports and clear data visualizations for management through charts, graphs, or tables and identify reporting improvements.
4. Knowledge and familiarization with Microsoft Office programs to effectively produce reports.
5. Analyze and interpret results using standard statistical tools and techniques.
6. Assist in planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining data requirements for clinic quality improvement programs, compliance programs or research projects.
7. Monitor established core measures, quality, and productivity reports. Present the data as necessary.
8. Review supporting programs that focus on improved outcomes of patient care, patient safety, healthcare delivery systems, EHR, patient billing, quality improvement, patient population, compliance, and grant reporting.
9. Collaborate with clinical, operational, billing, and leadership teams to improve workflows, documentation practices, and data quality. 10. Responsible for data generation and validation for reporting to Federal/State and private organizations as needed, such as grant reporting, Medicaid/Medicare reporting and insurance reporting. 11. Manage data in KCHC programs such as Epic, Acuere, Crystal Reports, and Business Objects.
12. Utilize reporting databases such as HRSA’s EHB, UDS and NCQA PCMH.
13. Compile data for Provider evaluations.
14. Oversee Provider Peer Review processes including chart selection and data tracking.
15. Responsible for special requests from leadership and supporting staff, as necessary.
16. Receive and process all incident and employee injury reports, including tracking responses and outcomes.
17. Responsible for the Patient Satisfaction Survey program including developing surveys, data tracking, and reporting.
18. Assist Medical Director with Care Team/QI meetings, follow-up, and reporting.
19. Responsible for presenting data at QI meetings, such as, but not limited to, Care Team.
20. Coordinates with clinical staff for on-going clinical information system evaluation including user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
21. Responsible for taking minutes/notes in formal meetings if Data Coordinator/Administrative Assistant cannot attend.
22. Communicate tasks with the Quality Department via Monday.com for tracking.
23. Provides on-going data auditing, especially for UDS, grant submissions, and other programs that require accurate data submissions.
24. Perform root cause analysis and data validation to identify reporting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
25. Other related duties as assigned by the Quality Manager and Leadership.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma/GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or related topic highly desired.
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a data analyst or a similar position required. Experience in a healthcare setting using an EHR and medical billing system highly desired.
Licensure/Certification: None required.
Attendance: Regular attendance and punctuality is expected and required.
English Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
