Overview

The Tester is responsible for performing functional, pressure, and performance testing of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, components, and assemblies to verify conformance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional, hydrostatic, pneumatic, and performance testing of cylinders and related components in accordance with approved procedures and specifications
• Set up and operate test equipment, including pressure test stands, gauges, and instrumentation required to verify product performance
• Verify test setups, configurations, and parameters prior to execution to ensure compliance with test procedures and engineering requirements
• Monitor and document test results, including pressure readings, cycle performance, leakage, and functional operation
• Ensure test procedures include applicable requirements, acceptance criteria, and limits as defined in design documents and specifications
• Accurately record test data and complete test reports, ensuring documentation is clear, complete, and traceable
• Identify, document, and report nonconforming conditions observed during testing
• Verify that tested items meet acceptance criteria prior to release for shipment or further processing
• Maintain control of test status to ensure items are clearly identified as accepted, rejected, or pending evaluation
• Ensure traceability of tested items to applicable documentation, including travelers, certifications, and test records
• Utilize and verify Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE), ensuring equipment is properly calibrated and within valid calibration status prior to use
• Assist in the evaluation of test failures, working with Engineering and Quality to support root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Maintain and support proper handling, storage, and protection of test items to prevent damage or contamination
• Ensure test activities comply with applicable procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards
• Support internal, external, and customer audits by providing test documentation and demonstrating testing processes
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized test area in accordance with company standards
• Communicate test results, issues, and concerns effectively to Quality, Engineering, and Production teams
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support quality objectives and operational needs

Authorized to verify and document product conformance through testing activities

• Maintains independence from production operations to ensure objective testing and verification
• Responsible for identifying and reporting nonconforming conditions without influence from production pressures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures
• Knowledge of Measuring and Test Equipment, including calibration verification and proper usage
• Understanding of nonconformance processes (NCR/DMR) and defect reporting
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies during testing
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Production
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, test data entry systems, ERP systems preferred)
• Technical training or certification in manufacturing, hydraulics, mechanics, or a related field preferred
• 2–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, testing, assembly, or a related technical role preferred
• Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems, pressure testing, or mechanical systems strongly preferred
• Experience in regulated environments (NQA-1, nuclear, aerospace, ISO) preferred

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
