• Open to individuals currently accepted for enrollment OR currently enrolled students in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis. • Duty Location: FMC Lexington, KY • • NOTE: This is a Student Internship opportunity under the Pathways Program. This is a temporary internship to complete project work that’s temporary in nature. This is an excepted service appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.

Incumbent must be in their second or third year of their theological and/or ministerial training program from an educational institution recognized as accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.

This position is located at a Bureau of Prisons’(BOP) Chaplaincy Services field department or within the Chaplaincy Services Branch in Central Office.

This is a developmental position in a formal training program which provides entry at other than the performance level and development for future assignment as a Chaplain.

This program includes a period of familiarization with the overall functions of the Chaplain position.

Conditions of employment

• Be at least 16 years of age
• Maintain a GPA of 2.5 and above with no grade below a "C"
• Maintain at least a half-time course load at the collegiate level.

• Be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate in a qualifying educational institution; to include “qualifying career or technical education programs” (which may include Registered Apprenticeship Programs, Job Corps, Climate Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps).
• Be seeking a degree that is relevant to this position.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:

Applicants must be current students pursuing a degree or certificate in a qualifying educational institution with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher AND maintain at least a half time or full-time course load.

AND

Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.

This position has a basic educational requirement. Individuals applying for this position must be enrolled in a degree program directly related to the position. In order to be eligible for conversion into the competitive service, the incumbent must meet the degree requirements, as governed by the Office of Personnel Management, for this position.

Applicants must also provide documentation from the educational institution verifying current enrollment with at least a half time or full-time course load. This documentation may be a Current Enrollment Verification Certificate or a statement of current enrollment or acceptance letter (which verifies all of the required information).AND
