Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
Assists the surgeon in the operative procedure. Initiates appropriate intra operative behaviors unique to first assisting. Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to operative procedures. Conducts pre-operative assessment of patient needs, and family education. Maintains a sterile environment.

Unit Summary: The Vanderbilt Pediatric Heart Institute (housed at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt) is one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive pediatric cardiology centers. A multidisciplinary team of over 500 specialists diagnoses, treats, and manages congenital and childhood heart differences from the fetal stage through adulthood.
