NBIS Qualified Bridge Inspection Team Lead

Kisinger Campo & Associates (KCA) is seeking two NBIS Qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leaders. One position will be based in Charleston, SC, and the other will support our Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC offices. These individuals will be responsible for leading bridge inspections in accordance with SCDOT and NBIS standards, ensuring accurate evaluation, documentation, and reporting of bridge and ancillary structure conditions throughout South Carolina.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct a team conducting routine bridge inspections
• Perform NBIS bridge inspections in compliance with FHWA and state requirements
• Identify bridges that require load ratings
• Identify and report critical structural findings
• Conduct QA/QC reviews of inspection work and documentation
• Prepare and review inspection reports
• Plan and coordinate bridge inspection schedules
• Supervise and/or coordinate the work of other Certified Bridge Inspector Team Leads and inspection staff

Qualifications:

• Must be a Certified Team Leader Bridge Inspector meeting for SCDOT Certified Team Leader, NBIS-qualified, licensed South Carolina Professional Engineer (PE), or NBIS-qualified inspection team leader eligible to apply for and obtain SCDOT Certified Team Leader status
• Self-motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently
• Experience inspecting bridges and ancillary structures
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, detailed inspection reports
• Knowledge of current SCDOT bridge inspection standards and practices
• Experience with SCDOT BrM inspection program
• Familiarity with element-level inspection coding
• Bridge climbing and/or rope access skills
• Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Ability to work in field conditions, including around live traffic and at heights
• Willingness and ability to travel weekly throughout South Carolina
• Comfortable working in a role consisting of approximately 70% fieldwork and 30% office work
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required
