Position Overview

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-oriented Cashier to join our team. As the face of our feed store, you will be the primary point of contact for our customers—ranging from local farmers and ranchers to backyard pet owners. Beyond ring-ups, you will provide excellent customer service, answer basic product questions, and ensure the front-of-house remains clean and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Sales: Greet customers warmly, assist them in finding products, and provide accurate information regarding feed types, livestock supplies, and seasonal items.
• Point of Sale (POS) Management: Efficiently and accurately process cash, credit, check, and store account transactions.
• Inventory & Restocking: Maintain neat, fully stocked displays near the checkout counter (e.g., small pet treats, tools, seasonal items). Report low inventory to management.
• Order Coordination: Coordinate with warehouse/yard staff to ensure large orders (like bulk feed or hay bales) are loaded correctly into customer vehicles.
• Store Maintenance: Keep the register area, storefront, and walkways clean, organized, and free of debris or spilled feed.
• Phone Inquiry Handling: Answer incoming store phone calls, check product availability, and take messages or transfer calls as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 1+ years of retail cashier or customer service experience preferred (experience in agriculture, farming, or animal care is a major plus).
• Basic Math & Tech Skills: Comfortable using computerized POS systems, handling cash accurately, and calculating basic discounts or tax.
• Communication: Strong verbal communication skills with a friendly, helpful, and patient attitude toward customers and coworkers.
• Reliability: Dependable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods (up to 8 hours a day).
• Ability to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs (such as bags of feed, seed, or animal bedding) when assisting customers.
• Comfortable working in an environment that may be dusty or exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
