Summary

We are seeking a talented Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic team in the heart of the outdoor advertising world. This role is essential in enhancing our clients' visibility and engagement through innovative communication strategies that align with our mission of promoting outdoor brands.

The Communications Coordinator is designed for a motivated individual who is passionate about public relations, media engagement, and storytelling. This role supports the Communications Manager and senior team members with day-to-day PR activities, while beginning to contribute to strategy discussions and campaign development.

Communications & Public Relations Responsibilities

Media Relations:

• Research and build media lists for client campaigns.
• Begin navigating the process to become the primary point of contact for media partners and journalist.
• Monitor media coverage and track client mentions in local, regional, and national outlets.
• Help prepare and distribute media kits, briefing documents, and background materials for client use.
• Proactively secure earned media placements and respond to inbound media inquiries, cultivate relationships with media and industry partners
• Assist in submitting products to target media partners to stimulate product review

Content Creation for Pitching:

• Write/edit press releases, blog posts, and newsletter copy with editorial guidance focusing on consistency in brand messaging.
• Draft and assist in creating tailored pitches to support product launches, events, and campaigns.
• Distribute content through editorial list and partnerships

Analytics & Measurement:

• Collect and organize data from PR campaigns, including impressions, placements, and sentiment.
• Assist in compiling client reports and learning to analyze outcomes against campaign goals.
• Support the team in using media monitoring and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Meltwater, or Cision.

Other:

• Participate in team brainstorms to contribute creative ideas.
• Maintain awareness of client business and communications objectives; connect daily PR efforts to broader client goals.
• Observe and support the development of strategic PR plans, gaining experience in how strategies are shaped.
• Collaborate with internal creative, digital, and social teams to extend PR efforts across channels.
• Provide general administrative and organizational support for client accounts.
• Point of contact for client.
• Travels occasionally to supported markets, client meetings, and client events.
• Assist where needed

Qualifications/Experience

• 1+ year work experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field (agency experience a plus).
• Demonstrated interest in media relations and analytics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
• Strong writing skills with experience in AP style, news writing, and persuasive written communication.
• Ability to occasionally travel to supported markets, client meetings, and client events
• Capacity to adjust and contribute in response to the evolving nature of marketing and clients
• Knowledge/experience in the outdoor industry is a plus (hunting, fishing)
