Job Summary
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager or General Manager in managing the retail operation. Train, develop and monitor the sales force in product knowledge, selling skills and customer relations. Analyze sales data and recommend merchandise items to meet customer preferences to increase sales.
Essential Functions
1. Performs and is responsible for staffing plans (schedules).
2. Participates in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
3. Advise and recommend disciplinary action up to and including discharge.
4. Supervise the staff’s daily duties, work schedules, performance planning, coaching and counseling (verbal and written).
5. Assist Store Manager with ongoing sales training and assist associates in obtaining new product knowledge, merchandise promotions information, and customer service and sales skills (identifying and fulfilling customer needs, up-sells, and add-on purchasing).
6. Perform store opening and closing procedures, cash and sales reconciliation, payroll/commission submissions, and U.S. Customs Entries (ATF Reports).
7. Participate in receiving, transferring and returning merchandise as well as monitoring stock levels on all categories.
8. Perform loss prevention and inventory audits.
9. Assist General Manager with development and implementation of business plans to increase sales.
10. Ensure customers receive outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, handling inquires and resolving complaints in a professional manner.
11. Assist customers in sales function by identifying and fulfilling customer needs, up-sells and add-on purchasing.
12. Direct floor moves, display maintenance and store housekeeping.
13. Ensure compliance of U.S. Customs Regulations and company policies and procedures.
14. Performs other duties as required.

Work Environment
Professional retail environment with minimal privacy while utilizing standard retail and office equipment with a low noise level (computers, copying machines, faxes, scanners and printers running).
Physical Demands
1. Physical demands include frequently seating for long periods; standing, walking; ability to reach above or below shoulders, twist at the waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb and balance.
2. Comprehension, knowledge and use of technological business environment such as email, attachments to emails, scan documents, business software such as spreadsheets, presentation formats (power point) and word documents.
3. Physical demands include frequently sitting for long periods of time; walking, ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb and balance. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds.
4. Ability to operate all electronic equipment (Computer, P.O.S., Credit Card Verification etc.) necessary to perform job function.
5. Comprehension, knowledge, and use of technological business environments, such as email, attachments to emails, scanning documents, business software, spreadsheets, presentation formats (PowerPoint), Excel, and Word documents.
6. Ability to operate and use basic office electric and manual equipment.
7. Ability to work varied hours/days/ as business dictates.
Required / Preferred Education & Experience
1. Minimal a Bachelor’s Degree in business or related subject and/or equivalent work experience in a management capacity, minimal three (3) years management experience, preferable experience in a retail environment.
2. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure with time restraints.
3. Strong leadership, communications (oral & written), organizational, planning, motivational and delegation skills.
