Job Overview
The Estimators primary objective is to build relationships to provide a profitable revenue source. The Estimator is responsible for selecting his/her projects to bid. The Estimator must review all front-end documentation ex.: Sub-Contract Agreements, Owner to General Contractor Agreement, Insurance Requirements, Safety Procedures, and project logistics. Estimators must review architectural, structural, mechanical, and landscape drawings along with the specifications, providing accurate material take-offs, provide estimated time to fabricate and install materials, request and receive quotes from multiple manufactures/vendors. The Estimator must contact General Contractors and ask for feedback/rundown on bids - the feedback from the General Contractor will help the company be competitive with our competition on future projects. Must meet Goals at the end of the year.

Duties

• Talk to GCs about future projects.
• Download Drawings, specifications and all front documents (subcontract agreements, logistic plans, and project schedules).
• Assessing the risk levels associated with a project.
• Provide Detailed Take-Off of plans and specs for all projects bidding.
• Allocate additional Field and Office overhead to particular projects. Ex.: Larger projects require un-tooled Foreman or add time for Superintendent (these adjustments can be made on the WE work sheet on each tab under Foreman Supervision or Superintendent Supervision).
• Provide correct labor rates for shop and field with the Union.
• Thoroughly review front end documents necessary to protect company interests; review all the attachments.
• Target profit margins based on the size of the project and past information of our competition.
• Review bids with Chief Estimator prior to reviewing with PM Department.
• Set meetings with Superintendent’s or PMs for bid reviews.
• Discuss fabrication and installation strategies with Chief Estimator and PM Department.
• Review all insurance information and clarify if a project is an OCIP or Non-OCIP required project.
• Making sure the correct taxes are being applied to buyout materials that are being delivered to the project site.
• Review Contracts – Estimator must review the scope of work that he/she bid, check for hourly labor rates and overhead & profit for change order work.
• Follow up on all bids with GC’s.
• Provide detailed rundowns.
• Estimator must review all awarded projects with the Project Manager, Field Superintendent, and Project Engineer.
• Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet set goals, and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Min. 2 yr. Associates Degree
• CADD Certification, BIM Certification
• Knowledge of AutoCad, Bluebeam, and Microsoft word and excel.
• Partner Pack (optional)
• Comprehensive understanding of Glass / Glazing / Curtainwall / Metal Panels
• Experience in estimating
• Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications.
• Must be computer savvy, must know how to submit bids electronically, and submit request to vendors electronically.
• Must demonstrate great communication, judgement, multi-tasking, and time management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
