Electronics Technician – Avionics Repair & Aerospace Industry

Overview

The Electronics Technician supports the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and certification of avionics and electronic systems used in aircraft and aerospace applications. This role ensures that all work meets strict regulatory, safety, and quality standards while contributing to the reliability and performance of mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

· Diagnose and repair avionics components such as communication, navigation, flight-control, and power-distribution systems.

· Perform detailed inspections of electronic assemblies, circuit boards, wiring harnesses, and connectors using industry-standard tools and test equipment.

· Use diagnostic instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers) to evaluate system performance and isolate faults.

· Interpret technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, maintenance manuals, and engineering drawings.

· Assemble, rework, and solder electronic components following IPC or aerospace standards.

· Conduct functional and acceptance testing to verify compliance with OEM specifications and FAA/EASA regulations.

· Document all maintenance actions in accordance with aerospace quality systems (AS9100, FAA Part 145, etc.).

· Collaborate with engineers and quality teams to resolve complex issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

· Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, RF systems, and embedded hardware.

· Proficiency in troubleshooting down to the component level.

· Experience with avionics test equipment and calibration procedures.

· Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

· Skilled in precision soldering, PCB rework, and harness repair (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or equivalent preferred).

· Familiarity with FAA, EASA, DoD, or aerospace quality standards.

· Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Typical Education & Experience

· Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Avionics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent military training.

· 2–5 years of experience in avionics repair, aerospace manufacturing, or electronics maintenance.

· Certifications such as FCC GROL, A&P license, or IPC certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

· Hands-on work in a repair station, aerospace manufacturing facility, or maintenance hangar.

· Requires precision work with small components, test benches, and specialized equipment.

· May involve shift work, tight deadlines, and adherence to strict safety and quality protocols.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
