Position Summary
The Business Development Executive — Chinese Markets is responsible for growing Cubework's membership base within Chinese-speaking business communities across the U.S. This role focuses on building relationships with Chinese importers, cross-border e-commerce operators, freight forwarders, and logistics businesses who are establishing or expanding their U.S. warehouse and distribution operations.
This is a full-cycle sales role — from prospecting to signed license agreement — conducted primarily in Mandarin. The ideal candidate is deeply embedded in or connected to Chinese business networks, understands the cross-border e-commerce and import/export landscape, and knows how to earn trust within this community. We operate in a tech-enabled sales environment and expect fluency in AI-assisted prospecting, sales automation tools, and modern outbound workflows.
Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and develop relationships with Chinese-speaking business owners, importers, e-commerce operators, freight forwarders, and logistics companies
- Conduct outreach and sales conversations primarily in Mandarin — by phone, WeChat, email, and in-person
- Qualify prospects by business type, space requirements, timeline, and budget
- Schedule and conduct space tours in person and virtually, tailoring the pitch to each prospect's operation
- Negotiate and close co-warehousing license agreements including term length, space configuration, and services
- Maintain accurate CRM records including pipeline stages, activity notes, and close dates
- Build and manage outbound sequences using sales automation platforms — email cadences, follow-up workflows, and lead scoring
- Use AI tools to research prospects, personalize outreach, draft bilingual communications, and accelerate pipeline velocity
- Actively engage in Chinese business associations, trade groups, chambers of commerce, and community events to build brand presence
- Collaborate with the BD and marketing teams to develop Mandarin-language outreach materials and campaigns
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly occupancy and revenue targets
- Share market intelligence on Chinese business trends, competitor activity, and community feedback
Skills
- Native or near-native Mandarin fluency — written and spoken — required; Cantonese is a plus
- Exceptional phone and WeChat sales skills — the majority of prospecting and closing activity is conducted remotely
- Strong verbal and written communication in both Mandarin and English — ability to present, negotiate, and follow up professionally in both languages
- Deep understanding of Chinese business culture, relationship-building norms, and how decisions are made within Chinese-owned businesses
- Effective negotiator with a client-first approach — able to build long-term trust while driving deals forward
- Highly detail-oriented and organized — capable of managing multiple active accounts and follow-up timelines simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and WeChat for business communication
- Proficient in AI tools including ChatGPT and Claude for prospect research, bilingual outreach drafting, and workflow automation
- Comfortable with CRM platforms, sales automation tools, and digital communication systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3 or more years of B2B sales experience — cross-border e-commerce, freight forwarding, logistics, warehousing, or B2B services targeting Chinese business markets preferred
- Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding quota in an outbound, relationship-driven sales environment
- Established network within Chinese business communities, import/export circles, or cross-border e-commerce platforms (Alibaba, TikTok Shop, Temu, Shein ecosystem, etc.) is a strong plus
- Hands-on experience with sales automation tools such as Apollo, Outreach, Salesloft, or similar
- Self-motivated with a high degree of ownership and initiative
- Ability to travel locally and regionally for tours, events, and community activations
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
