Dining Service - Thorne Hall
Job Summary
The Baker will prepares homemade baked products for campus dining halls, cash operations, and catering serving approximately 20,000 meals per week during the academic year and 7,000 during the summer months. Other responsibilities include:
- Performing daily and weekly sanitation duties to maintain bakeshop area, equipment, and other areas of the dining operation
- Assisting with development and testing of new recipes and products to help maintain records (i.e., recipes, production reports, HACCP, and sanitation reports)
- Providing input to Head Baker regarding menu ideas, production, and service suggestions.
- Preparing bakery items such as muffins, cookies, breads, rolls and desserts for all dining operations using approved recipes.
- Consistently follow production quality standards and goals.
This position has a regular work schedule of Tuesday through Saturday from 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This position will start around mid-August.
- Hourly rate for this position is $22.25/per hour

Education/Skills Requirements
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read, understand, adjust recipes, and be able to use fractions, weights, and measures relating to recipe production.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of team as well as working independently with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrated reliability and ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Must demonstrate good personal hygiene practices.
Preferred:-
Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts or related degree
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
- A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
- This position will require a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Preferred:
- Serve Safe certification (Must be obtained within 6 months covered by the college).
- 3 – 5 years bakery production experience
- Related work experience in high volume operations

Standard Work Days and Hours
- This is an onsite, full-time, year-round position, working 40 hours per week for 38 weeks per year (0.73 FTE). The role includes occasional overtime, weekends, holidays, and weather emergencies, as well as coverage during major college events such as Parents Weekend, Commencement, and Reunions.
