Job Summary: BOOKKEEPER CONSTRUCTION

We are a General Contractor in Juneau looking for a detail-oriented Construction Bookkeeper to manage our full-cycle project accounting. You will serve as our financial data hub, ensuring field operations, payroll data, and vendor invoices sync accurately across our modern construction tech stack. This role focuses heavily on cross-platform data synchronization, automated mapping, and data integrity, with minimal manual, double data entry.

Core Responsibilities

• Integration Audit & Management: Monitor and resolve sync errors across our primary applications: RedTeam (Project Management), QuickBooks Online (General Ledger), Miter (Payroll), and Bill.com (Accounts Payable).
• Construction Payroll: Create new projects in Miter as needed. Audit and import weekly field hours from RedTeam to Miter. Ensure overtime, Davis Bacon wages, union fringes, employer burdens, and tax allocations (computed automatically in Miter) are correct. Verify GL mapping and auto sync with QBO is updated as needed.
• Payroll Compliance Support: Maintain prevailing wage rules by project and employee inside Miter to facilitate automated certified payroll reports (e.g., WH-347) for public works contracts.
• Accounts Payable Workflow: Match vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications initiated in RedTeam with synced transactions in Bill.com. Review fully executed bills weekly with Project Managers for final approval before online payment. Invite Vendors to as needed. Execute digital payments and collect required lien waivers simultaneously.
• Vendor Compliance: collect and verify vendor W-9, license and insurance credentials in RedTeam prior to starting work. Support annual Workers Comp and General Liability audit.
• Progress Billing: Project Managers prepare and issue owner progress billings and AIA documentation directly out of RedTeam, which pushes receivables to QuickBooks Online. Bookkeeper will monitor incoming owner payments and process in Quickbooks online which updates RedTeam.
• Field Workforce Onboarding: Manage the initial setup of new hires and field crews within the Miter platform, collecting tax forms and basic onboarding documents.
• Financial Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of QBO bank accounts, corporate credit cards, and construction clearing accounts to ensure real-time visibility into project profitability.
• Financial Statements: Work with Carver owners to review and prepare quarterly WIP and in-house financials. Support CPA with year end Review. Provide backup for Surety as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 3 to 5+ years of full-charge construction bookkeeping specifically working for a commercial General Contractor.
• Tech Stack Fluency: Mandatory prior experience operating QuickBooks Online Plus/Advanced paired with automated third-party integrations. Prior experience with RedTeam, Miter, or Bill.com is highly preferred.
• Workflow Competency: Absolute clarity on how a transaction flows from a project management tool down into a ledger and out through a payment platform without manual manipulation.
• Construction Expertise: Firm grasp of construction-specific financial mechanics including retainage/retention, Work in Progress (WIP), change orders, and lien laws.
• Work Arrangement: Ability to work reliably out of our Juneau office, with potential for a flexible hybrid schedule once workflows and integrations are running smoothly.

Pay: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour
