We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Driver Trainer to train and develop School Bus Drivers, Motorcoach Operators, and ADA/Paratransit Drivers. This position combines classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, driver evaluations, and ongoing coaching to ensure our drivers meet the highest standards of safety, customer service, and regulatory compliance.

ResponsibilitiesTraining & Development

• Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding programs
• Train drivers in classroom and behind-the-wheel environments
• Develop and deliver training on:
• Defensive driving
• Passenger safety
• ADA compliance and passenger assistance
• Customer service
• Company policies and procedures
• DOT and FMCSA regulations
• Emergency procedures and evacuations
• Vehicle inspections and defect reporting

Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

• Train and evaluate drivers operating:
• School Buses
• Motorcoaches
• ADA/Paratransit Vans
• Conduct road tests and route familiarization
• Train drivers on:
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Backing procedures
• Passenger loading and unloading
• Wheelchair lift operation and securement
• Emergency response procedures

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain training documentation and qualification records
• Conduct ride-alongs and driver observations
• Assist with accident investigations and remedial training
• Identify driver performance issues and provide coaching
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, ADA, and state regulations

QualificationsRequired

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Class A or Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement
• Minimum 5 years of passenger transportation experience
• Clean driving record
• Strong knowledge of:
• FMCSA regulations
• DOT compliance requirements
• ADA transportation standards
• Passenger transportation safety practices
• Ability to teach adults in both classroom and field environments
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred

• Previous Driver Trainer or Safety Trainer experience
• School Bus Instructor Certification
• Certified Driver Trainer designation
• Experience training motorcoach, school bus, and ADA drivers
• Experience with Samsara, Coach Manager, BusHive, or similar transportation software

Physical Requirements

• Ability to enter and exit buses and vans frequently
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to secure wheelchairs and mobility devices
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and drive for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
