Position Summary

GDM-AE, Inc. is staffing for federal healthcare construction and design support work at active healthcare facilities in Palo Alto, CA.

This is a Licensed-Architect-required role and calls for medical equipment planning experience on hospitals, clinics, and other active healthcare facilities. Applicants must have 5+ years of professional architectural experience with a focus on the design and construction administration of commercial or institutional buildings. This role coordinates procurement, placement, and integration of medical equipment supporting clinical needs and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate procurement, placement, and integration of medical equipment to support clinical needs and enhance patient care.
• Plan layout and installation of equipment to optimize workflow and efficiency given spatial constraints and operational needs of clinical departments.
• Conduct research and analysis to select equipment that meets quality, budget, and code/regulatory compliance.
• Develop, review, and coordinate medical equipment lists, room data sheets, equipment matrices, cut sheets, and planning documentation.
• Coordinate with clinical users, facility staff, designers, project managers, contractors, vendors, and procurement stakeholders.
• Review drawings, room layouts, utility requirements, and project scopes for equipment coordination issues including space, clearances, mounting, seismic, infection control, and operations.
• Manage vendor relationships, oversee installation processes, and provide staff training on equipment use and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program required.
• Registered Architect with a current US license required. Proof of licensure required prior to assignment. NCARB certification desirable for reciprocity.
• 5 or more years of professional architectural experience required, with focus on design and construction administration of commercial or institutional buildings.
• In-depth knowledge of architectural details and medical equipment, including assembly, seismic requirements, infection control standards, and environmental factors.
• In-depth knowledge of building codes and standards: IBC, NFPA, and ADA/ABA.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural plans, specifications, and terminology.
• Healthcare project experience in renovation work within active facilities highly preferred.
• Knowledge of federal healthcare design standards (space planning criteria, door hardware schedules, design guidelines) highly preferred.
• Federal healthcare project experience preferred.
• Revit and AutoCAD proficiency preferred.

Federal Contract Requirements

• Some local travel within the Palo Alto service area is part of normal duties.
• Tier 1 Low Risk / Non-Sensitive background investigation (NACI / SF-85) required prior to assignment.
• Must abide by all client facility rules, security procedures, and safety regulations.
• Employees represent themselves as contracted personnel, not federal employees, and do not perform inherently governmental functions.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $110,000-$150,000
