The School
Jackson Walnut Park School is a faith-filled Montessori and K–6 elementary school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, dedicated to nurturing the whole child, mind, heart, and spirit. Rooted in the Catholic tradition and guided by the mission to “love God, love learning, and love one another,” our school provides a welcoming and inclusive community where students are encouraged to grow through discovery-based learning, creativity, academic excellence, and compassionate service. The Position
The STEAM Specialist at Jackson Walnut Park School is called to inspire curiosity, creativity, innovation, and joyful learning through engaging instruction in Robotics, Innovation, Science, Engineering, and STEM (RISES). Working both independently and collaboratively with faculty and staff, the STEAM Specialist designs meaningful, student-centered learning opportunities for whole-class, small-group, and individual instruction that foster exploration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary connections.
Guided by the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, the ideal candidate is a proactive practitioner, collaborative creative, inclusive instructor, conscious communicator, and lifelong learner who values the dignity and potential of every child. Instruction may align with the Next Generation Science Standards, Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and/or PYP Curriculum Frameworks while cultivating students’ love of science and its connections to the broader world.
Broad responsibilities include:
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, or related field preferred.
· Massachusetts teaching certification preferred; alternative certification or subject-matter expertise may be considered.
· Minimum of three years of teaching experience preferred in an accredited educational setting.
· Experience with robotics, engineering, coding, innovation, or STEM/STEAM instruction preferred.
· Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven school community.
· Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Additional qualifications that are considered a plus:
· Familiarity with:Wit & Wisdom (ELA curriculum), Wilson Foundations, Lexia Core5 Reading, enVision Mathematics
· Knowledge and implementation of best practices in student instruction and learning.
· Comfort with educational technology platforms, especially the Google Suite for Education
· A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, model integrity, and consistently adhere to the school’s code of conduct and professional expectations
