Senior Digital Forensics Consultant
Location: Nationwide (Preference for California, particularly the Bay Area, or major East Coast metropolitan areas)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Travel: Up to 25% travel for client engagements, collections, depositions, and trial support.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Digital Forensics Consultant to independently lead forensic engagements supporting complex civil and criminal litigation matters. This role requires an experienced professional who can scope, collect, preserve, analyze, and report on digital evidence while serving as a trusted advisor to attorneys and clients.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience conducting forensic examinations across computers, mobile devices, cloud environments, and enterprise systems. This individual will also support expert witness engagements through report preparation, deposition support, and trial preparation, with a clear path toward becoming a testifying expert.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute forensically sound collections of computers, mobile devices, servers, cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), and SaaS applications.
- Conduct end-to-end forensic examinations, including artifact analysis, timeline reconstruction, deleted data recovery, user attribution, USB activity, and data exfiltration investigations.
- Prepare clear, defensible forensic reports, declarations, and supporting documentation.
- Support depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation, including expert witness activities when appropriate.
- Maintain chain of custody, evidence handling procedures, and quality assurance throughout all engagements.
- Consult directly with attorneys and clients regarding forensic strategy, ESI preservation, and discovery scope.
- Mentor junior consultants and review technical work products for accuracy and quality.
- Manage multiple engagements while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and meeting critical deadlines.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of hands-on digital forensics experience within a consulting, litigation support, cybersecurity, or forensic services environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage forensic engagements from collection through reporting.
- Strong understanding of litigation support, ESI, chain of custody, and the discovery process.
- Experience with forensic tools such as EnCase, Magnet AXIOM, Cellebrite, Intella, and related forensic technologies.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to attorneys, clients, judges, and juries.
- Strong technical writing experience, including forensic reports, declarations, or expert reports.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior expert witness, deposition, or courtroom testimony experience.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Google Workspace, AWS, or other cloud forensic environments.
- Experience performing macOS, iOS, Android, and mobile application forensic analysis.
- Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, SQL, or similar technologies.
- Experience investigating trade secret theft, employee departures, insider threats, or intellectual property matters.
- Industry certifications such as EnCE, CCE, CFCE, GCFA, GCFE, or similar.

Compensation & Benefits
- $160K-$190K with flexibility to go to $200K for the right candidate.

Please note: Litigation consulting often requires flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend work and short-notice travel to meet client and court deadlines.
Pay: $160,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
