Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and adaptable Travel School Psychologist to support students across the Newport Independent School District for the upcoming school year. In this role, you will serve as the primary evaluator for disability diagnoses and special education eligibility determinations. This position requires local travel between district campuses to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and develop evidence-based interventions that enhance student learning, accessibility, and mental well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Evaluations: Conduct psychological, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral assessments of students referred for specialized instruction or related services.
IEP & Eligibility Determination: Serve as the lead evaluator to interpret evaluation data, diagnose conditions, and guide IEP teams in determining eligibility for special education and 504 services.
District-Wide Collaboration: Partner closely with the Director of Special Education, building principals, teachers, and related service providers across primary, intermediate, and secondary levels.
Intervention & Support: Consult with educators and families to design, implement, and track evidence-based academic and behavioral management systems.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain meticulous student records and psychological reports in strict compliance with Kentucky state guidelines and federal IDEA regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Master’s Degree or Education Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree in School or Educational Psychology from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Must hold (or be eligible to immediately obtain) a valid Kentucky Certificate as a School Psychologist issued by the EPSB.
Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS/RTI), individualized behavior support processes, and federal/state compliance standards.
Travel: Reliable personal transportation to travel between assigned district-wide sites in the Newport area.
