About the Role
Gam-Bal Land Management, LLC is seeking an entry-level GIS Analyst to support the management of our ranch properties in Florida. Our holdings include permitted gopher tortoise recipient sites, timberland, farmland, and leased acreage, and GIS is central to how we manage and steward all of it.
This role translates spatial data into actionable insights across our gopher tortoise relocation program, wildlife habitat, water resources, ranch infrastructure, and agricultural operations. You'll work closely with ranch managers, conservation staff, and senior leadership to build and maintain geospatial datasets, produce maps and analyses, and help drive data-informed decisions across all aspects of ranch management. This is a hands-on role with a mix of field data collection and desktop analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Gopher Tortoise Recipient Site Management
- Maintain accurate spatial records of permitted recipient site boundaries in compliance with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) requirements
- Map and track tortoise relocation delivery locations, burrow sites, and population distribution across the property over time
- Assess and monitor suitable upland habitat using remote sensing, land cover analysis, and field data to support site capacity planning
- Produce maps and spatial documentation to support FWC permitting, relocation agreements, and regulatory reporting
- Collaborate with environmental consultants, engineering firms, and other counterparties on spatial deliverables associated with relocation transactions
Land & Water Management
- Map and maintain spatial data for water rights, irrigation systems, drainage infrastructure, and soil types
- Monitor changes in water availability and land cover over time using remote sensing and satellite imagery
- Support documentation and compliance for water rights and conservation programs
Wildlife & Habitat
- Develop and maintain habitat maps, wildlife corridors, and conservation easement boundaries
- Assist with spatial analysis to support wildlife management plans and conservation goals beyond the tortoise program
- Compile and visualize wildlife monitoring data collected in the field
Ranch Operations & Infrastructure
- Maintain up-to-date layers for roads, fences, gates, utilities, and facilities across all properties
- Support asset tracking and maintenance planning with accurate spatial records
- Assist in site planning for infrastructure improvements
Grazing & Agricultural Management
- Map pasture units, grazing rotations, and stocking rate data
- Support crop mapping, yield tracking, and agronomic planning
- Help model forage availability and coordinate seasonal grazing schedules spatially
