Position Overview
The Tax Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s tax function, including individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns, as well as year-round tax planning and advisory work. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including staff development, workflow management, and direct client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the tax department’s planning, preparation, and review of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Provide advanced tax planning and consulting for business owners and high-net-worth clients, including entity choice, compensation planning, and transaction structuring.
- Manage tax season and year-round workflows, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered with high quality and efficiency.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and senior accountants; provide technical guidance and support on complex tax issues.
- Research and resolve complex tax matters, including multi-state filings, passive activity and basis issues, and IRS/state notices and examinations.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on process improvements, technology implementation, and practice growth initiatives.
- Maintain strong, proactive communication with clients and serve as a primary relationship manager for key accounts.
Qualifications
- CPA license required.
- 7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience, including review responsibility for complex returns.
- Strong technical knowledge in individual, business, and pass-through entity taxation; trust and estate experience is a plus.
- Prior experience supervising staff and managing tax engagements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax issues in clear, practical terms.

Pay: $113,667.94 - $186,890.42 per year
