Job Summary

Electrical Inspector / Resident Engineer (Construction Administration & Special Inspections)

This is a consulting and owner’s representative inspection role, not an electrical installation position. CR Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector / Resident Engineer to perform electrical field inspections, construction administration, and special inspections on commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, and aviation projects throughout Arizona and Colorado.

Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as an electrical engineer, electrical inspector, or journeyman electrician, strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and the ability to travel within Arizona and Colorado, including occasional overnight assignments.

Candidates must also be able to meet security-sensitive project requirements, including TSA clearance eligibility, access to airport facilities, and company driving insurance requirements.

Qualifications – Electrical Inspector / Resident EngineerRequired

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering, inspection, or journeyman electrician work
• Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, or aviation electrical systems
• Strong working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA standards, and electrical construction practices
• Experience in electrical inspections, QA/QC, construction administration, or owner’s representative work
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
• Experience preparing clear and accurate inspection reports and documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must have a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and meet company insurance driving requirements
• Must be able to successfully pass a TSA security clearance and background check
• Must be eligible for access to airport-secured and other restricted project sites
• Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
• Must be able to pass background screening required for security-sensitive facilities
• Ability to travel within Arizona and Colorado, including overnight travel and occasional night work
• Ability to work on-site in Fountain Hills, AZ

Preferred

• Experience performing City-required Special Electrical Inspections
• Experience reviewing RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders
• Experience observing electrical testing, startup, and commissioning activities
• Experience with construction cost estimating or quantity verification
• ICC Electrical Inspector certification, Arizona Special Inspector certification, or PE license is a plus

Responsibilities – Electrical Inspector / Resident Engineer

• Perform electrical field inspections on active commercial, industrial, municipal, and aviation projects
• Conduct City-required Special Electrical Inspections
• Verify installations comply with contract documents, codes, and specifications
• Represent the owner by monitoring construction quality and documenting progress
• Review RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders
• Observe testing, startup, and commissioning of electrical systems
• Review as-built drawings and verify field conditions
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and project documentation
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders
• Support multiple projects across Arizona and Colorado
