Job Summary:

Design Catapult, Inc. is a unique industrial design and engineering company located in Fountain Valley, CA, with over 20 years of experience delivering innovative product design and development solutions across medical, dental, electronics, sports & fitness, and industrial markets.

We are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer specializing in medical products. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical equipment at customer sites. The position requires extensive travel and direct customer interaction, supporting both Design Catapult–developed products and client-facing medical technologies. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically strong, and comfortable working independently in fast-paced, field-based environments.

Qualifications Education & Experience Required:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 2–5 years of field service experience supporting medical or regulated equipment
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service mindset and professionalism
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively

Duties, Authorities, & Responsibilities:

· Install, configure, test, and commission medical devices at customer and clinical sites

· Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective repairs on medical equipment

· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic software-related issues in the field

· Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and internal teams

· Train customers, clinicians, and technicians on proper equipment use and safety procedures

· Represent Design Catapult professionally at customer locations and project meetings

· Document all service activities, repairs, and inspections accurately and timely

· Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and applicable regulatory and safety standards

· Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production teams to resolve technical issues

· Maintain tools, test equipment, service documentation, and spare parts inventory

· Travel extensively (regional and/or national), including overnight travel as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with FDA-regulated medical devices
• Familiarity with ISO standards and quality systems
• Experience supporting medical, dental, diagnostic, or laboratory equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
