Our Client, a commercial real estate organization overseeing a large institutional-quality property portfolio, is seeking a Finance & Accounting Consultant to support their Finance leadership team through a period of high project volume. This is a 40 hour per week role, on-site in Santa Monica 3-4 days per week, with an expected duration of 3-4 months.

This is a hands-on, Manager/Director-level consulting engagement supporting day-to-day FP&A responsibilities along with a number of accounting clean-up projects. This role is best suited for someone with a blended Finance + Accounting background and prior Commercial Real Estate experience — not a pure FP&A generalist. There is strong potential for this engagement to convert into a permanent role for the right candidate.

What You'll Do:

• Support FP&A processes, financial analysis, reporting, and special projects for the Finance team
• Help support budgeting work tied to an upcoming additional Finance hire
• Support a property accounting outsourcing transition to a third-party shared services provider
• Review accounts receivable and tenant write-offs, helping develop stronger policies to minimize future write-offs
• Support a CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliation clean-up project and help establish improved CAM procedures
• Analyze financial performance, operating expenses, cost trends, and key business drivers
• Build recurring and ad hoc reporting packages, financial decks, and decision-ready analysis for senior leadership
• Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Enterprise Operations, Technology, Real Estate Operations, and external partners
• Strengthen internal process documentation, finance policies, and document management practices
• Use Excel, reporting tools, and AI-enabled tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to improve analysis and workflow efficiency
• Bring structure, urgency, and project management discipline to multiple parallel Finance initiatives

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Manager or Director-level Finance consulting experience; willing to be hands-on
• Blended Finance and Accounting background — this is not a pure FP&A role
• Commercial or Industrial Real Estate experience required
• Strong FP&A foundation, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, and financial storytelling
• Strong accounting orientation, including familiarity with property accounting, receivables, write-offs, and CAM reconciliations
• Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills
• Comfortable managing multiple short-term, high-priority special projects simultaneously
• Independent, organized, and able to bring structure to ambiguous workstreams
• Able to be onsite in Santa Monica at least 3 days/week (4 preferred)
• Available to interview before July 4th and start after July 4th

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience using AI tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.) to improve analysis, reporting, and workflow efficiency
• Experience supporting property accounting outsourcing or shared services transitions
• Experience with CAM reconciliations, tenant receivables, AR clean-up, write-offs, and process improvement
• Ability to create executive-ready reporting materials, dashboards, and financial decks
• Experience helping a Finance leader build scalable processes, policies, and reporting discipline

Pay: $85.00 - $105.00 per hour
