Job Description: Production Supervisor (Seafood Processing)

Location: New Castle, DE

Schedule Type: Full-Time + Overtime

Pay Rate: Starting at $26.00 per Hour

Role Overview

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fish packaging line. This role ensures that packaging targets are met efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and worker safety. You will lead a diverse 10-person team, manage workflow, and actively participate in the day-to-day responsibilities from ready-to-eat material intake to finished product packaging, and drive continuous improvement on the plant floor. Must be able to work effectively and consistently in a cold environment wearing protective gear.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Workflow Management: Coordinate daily packaging schedules to ensure maximum throughput and minimize downtime. Full participation in the daily work.
• Resource Allocation: Assign tasks to line workers and ensure all stations (scaling, sealing, portioning, and packaging) are adequately staffed.
• Yield Optimization: Monitor packaging yields and implement techniques to reduce waste and maximize the value of raw materials.

Quality & Food Safety

• Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to HACCP, FDA, and SQF regulations.
• Sanitation: Oversee "Clean-in-Place" (CIP) procedures and ensure the facility meets deep-cleaning standards between shifts.
• Cold Chain Integrity: Monitor temperature controls throughout the packaging and storage areas to ensure product freshness and safety.

Team Management

• Training: Onboard new hires on packing & production skills, machinery operation, and safety protocols.
• Performance: Conduct regular performance reviews and address labor relations or disciplinary issues promptly.
• Safety: Maintain a "Zero-Harm" environment by enforcing the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as chainmail gloves and non-slip footwear.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing (meat or seafood processing preferred).
• Education: High School Diploma required; a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Management is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP/inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certifications: Current HACCP or PCQI certification is highly desirable.
• Bilingual: English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements & Environment

• Environment: Must be comfortable working in a cold (typically 50°F), wet, and noisy industrial environment.
• Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to maintain pace of the physical labor required during long shifts.
• Schedule: Flexibility to work early mornings, late shifts, or weekends depending on seasonal fish harvests.

• Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to report daily metrics to plant management.
• Attention to Detail: A "sharp eye" for product quality and grading with emphasis on quality control.
