Job Summary/Basic Function
Bay de Noc Community College is seeking qualified applicants to teach first-year English courses asynchronous online beginning with fall semester. Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher (or 18 graduate level credits) in English-related field.
Post-secondary teaching experience in composition.
Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success.
Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy.
Ability to provide diverse teaching and learning approaches to diverse student populations.
Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications.
Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use.
Willingness to learn and implement new teaching strategies as needed to enhance student success.

Instructors will be provided with a robust course template that needs further development and personalization for online delivery. Additionally, instructors are provided with course guidelines and online learning support to aid in personalizing the class.
Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments of course and program learning outcomes.
Use evidence-based pedagogical practices focused on student learning.
Provide regular and substantive interaction and feedback to facilitate student belonging, engagement, and learning.
Recognize and respond appropriately to diverse student populations and their learning needs, including disability accommodations.
Actively engage with students, fostering retention and success.
Recognize and respond to different student learning styles and needs.
Develop and use supplementary learning materials, resources, and technology.
