About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on People Business Systems Manager to own and optimize the People technology ecosystem across Workday, Greenhouse, ServiceNow, VNDLY, payroll, benefits, and AI-enabled HR service tools. This role serves as a senior functional owner responsible for system administration, solution design, business process configuration, integrations, controls, and delivery across the People systems roadmap.
This is a hands-on systems and delivery role. The right candidate can translate business needs into scalable system design, lead structured requirements gathering, manage configuration and testing, and partner closely with People, Talent Acquisition, IT, Finance, and Legal stakeholders.
What You Will Do
· Serve as the primary functional administrator and HRIS product owner for Workday HCM across Core, Compensation, Talent, Absence, Benefits, and Learning.
· Own the People systems delivery lifecycle from requirements gathering through configuration, testing, UAT, go/no-go, hypercare, and closeout.
· Lead discovery sessions with non-technical business owners and translate needs into process flows, PRDs, solution design documents, and test plans.
· Manage Workday release cycles, enhancement intake, requirements documentation, impact assessment, testing coordination, and change communication.
· Monitor and maintain integrations across Workday, Greenhouse, VNDLY, payroll, benefits, ServiceNow, and related People systems.
· Support SOX, access controls, separation-of-duties controls, user access review evidence, and audit documentation.
· Own Greenhouse ATS configuration, including pipeline architecture, interview kits, scorecards, offer workflows, data hygiene, and the Greenhouse-to-Workday process.
· Manage VNDLY or equivalent contingent workforce workflows, including onboarding, offboarding, tenure monitoring, classification controls, and system synchronization.
· Improve employee experience by designing HR service catalogs, self-service channels, SLAs, and measurable experience metrics.
· Evaluate and support AI-enabled HR tools, conversational AI workflows, and automation opportunities while maintaining responsible AI, data privacy, compliance, and human oversight standards.
What We Are Looking For
· 5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM administration as a named system owner, HRIS product owner, or senior functional owner in a regulated environment.
· Strong Workday business process configuration experience, including security roles, calculated fields, EIB imports, report writing, release management, and functional troubleshooting.
· Workday certification or deep functional expertise in Learning, Benefits, and Talent is strongly preferred.
· Highly technical Greenhouse ATS experience, including configuration, workflow design, offer process support, data hygiene, and integration with Workday.
· Experience with ServiceNow HRSD configuration and HR service delivery workflows.
· Experience with VNDLY or another vendor management / contingent workforce platform is preferred.
· Strong SDLC delivery skills, including requirements gathering, solution design, documentation, testing, UAT, change management, and hypercare.
· Working knowledge of SOX ITGC controls, user access reviews, separation-of-duties controls, and audit evidence ownership.
· Comfort with Workday Report Writer, EIB, structured data, and people analytics; SQL or Databricks experience is a plus.
· Exposure to AI, LLM tools, Moveworks or similar conversational AI platforms, low-code automation, or HR self-service automation is a strong plus.
· Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to partner with People, Talent Acquisition, IT, Finance, Legal, and HR business stakeholders.
· Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work regularly from San Francisco and Palo Alto offices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
· A hands-on HR systems leader who is both technical and business-facing.
· Comfortable owning configuration decisions before build work begins.
· Able to improve fragmented processes and turn them into scalable, well-governed People systems workflows.
· Strong enough technically to work in Workday and Greenhouse directly, while also communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
· Experienced in solution design, business process configuration, integrations, controls, and employee experience improvements.
Pay: $65.00 - $85.00 per hour
