Cary's Mill Woodworking is seeking an experienced Drafting & Design Specialist to join our growing team. We specialize in high-end residential remodeling, custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and fine woodworking throughout Central Virginia.

What You'll Do

As our Drafting & Design Specialist, you'll be responsible for creating accurate, client approval drawings that drive production.

Responsibilities include:

• Create detailed approval drawings for custom cabinetry and architectural millwork
• Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and client requirements
• Produce approval-ready drawings using CAD software
• Coordinate with sales, project managers, production staff, and installers
• Revise drawings based on field measurements, design revisions, and client feedback
• Assist with material takeoffs and project planning
• Recommend design improvements that increase efficiency and manufacturability
• Maintain organized project documentation and drawing revisions
• Participate in client meetings and field visits as needed
• Help ensure projects remain on schedule while maintaining the highest quality standards

Qualifications

Required

• 3–5+ years of drafting experience
• Experience in custom cabinetry, millwork, woodworking, or residential construction
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar CAD software
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

• Education or training in drafting, architecture, engineering, interior design, or a related field
• Experience creating production shop drawings for custom cabinetry
• Knowledge of woodworking materials and construction methods
