Position Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Foreman / Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, modification, inspection, testing, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential facilities throughout New Jersey. This role provides on-site leadership, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and maintains compliance with all applicable codes, company standards, and project specifications.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled fire sprinkler professional with strong leadership abilities, extensive field experience, and a commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and supervise field crews in the installation, repair, and modification of fire sprinkler systems.
· Coordinate daily jobsite activities, manpower, materials, and equipment.
· Interpret blueprints, specifications, hydraulic calculations, and shop drawings.
· Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, including National Fire Protection Association standards, state regulations, and local authority requirements.
· Perform and oversee inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems.
· Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
· Communicate effectively with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and customers.
· Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, material usage, and project documentation.
· Identify and resolve field issues proactively to minimize delays and cost overruns.
· Train, mentor, and develop apprentice technicians and junior team members.
· Participate in project planning, scheduling, and coordination meetings.
· Ensure tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly maintained and secured.
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience in fire sprinkler installation, service, or construction.
· Proven experience leading field crews and managing projects on-site.
· Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards, including NFPA 13, 13R, 14, 20, 25, and 72.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schematics.
· Familiarity with New Jersey fire codes, permitting requirements, and inspection processes.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
· Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· New Jersey fire sprinkler certifications or licenses, where applicable.
· NICET certification in Water-Based Systems Layout, Inspection, or Testing.
· OSHA 30 certification.
· Experience with backflow systems, fire pumps, and special hazard suppression systems.
· Proficiency with mobile field reporting and project management software.
