Technical Sales Specialist
Palmer Industries: Custom Architectural Metalwork
Palmer Industries is an independent manufacturer of custom architectural metalwork and solid brass, with the owner on-site and a close team of skilled professionals. Our work is luxury by every measure: made to order, exacting in detail, and specified by leading architects and interior designers for high-end residential and hospitality projects. We sell through a curated national network of upscale bath and kitchen dealers, and directly to the designer and hospitality trade.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Specialist to be a polished, knowledgeable point of contact for our dealers, architects, designers, builders, and homeowners. This is a luxury sales and presentation role at the center of our business. It is not a training role. We are looking for someone who already brings strong high-end sales experience and can master a technical, custom product line quickly.
Our clientele are architects and designers with refined expectations, and their projects ultimately come to life on active construction sites. You will move fluently between both worlds: the elevated language of design and presentation, and the practical realities of building in the field. Daily correspondence is with an affluent, discerning, and well-educated audience, and the finesse, taste, and composure of our sales team must match it.
The Role
You will represent Palmer with the polish our products deserve, building and protecting relationships, presenting our work persuasively, resolving issues, and growing trust and satisfaction across our network, all of which ultimately drives sales. You will become an expert in our products and translate design intent into accurate, beautifully presented quotes and orders that carry through to a successful installation.
What You Will Do
- Develop in-depth knowledge of our products, finishes, technical details, and services
- Generate sales by corresponding with designers, architects, builders, and homeowners by phone and email, interpreting sketches and blueprints, offering design suggestions, and preparing polished written quotes and presentations
- Prepare concept and preliminary line drawings to support the sales conversation, with our drafting department producing the detailed and production drawings
- Coordinate with sales administration, drafting, and production on the technical aspects of projects
- Guide projects from design intent through to field installation, anticipating the needs of the construction site
- Provide general phone support across the business
- Review work orders before projects enter production, and inspect products after production
What You Bring
- Proven sales experience in luxury, high-end, made-to-order, or premium product environments
- A refined presentation style and the polish, taste, and composure to represent a luxury brand to architects and designers
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong attention to grammar, tone, and content
- Mechanical and technical aptitude, general knowledge of house construction, and comfort with the realities of working through the construction industry on site
- Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and dependable follow-up
- Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings, and comfort with basic math (including fractions)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (advanced Excel a plus) and familiarity with ERP and CRM systems
- A "do whatever it takes" work ethic
- CAD experience and a background in metalworking or woodworking design are each a plus
We will onboard the right person to Palmer's specific business model, products, and systems. This is not an entry-level position, and we are not able to train sales fundamentals.
Compensation and Benefits
- Full-time, on-site, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed
- From $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience, with bonus potential discussed at the offer stage
- Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, and a generous paid time off package
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
