Family House Manager (Part-Time, One Day full day per Week and 2 other 4 hour days)
About the Role
We are seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented House Manager to support our family one full day per week and two other after school for days for 4 hours. If the applicant can only make the one full day work with their schedule, please still apply.
This role is the operational backbone of our household—someone who keeps our family calendar, meals, kids' logistics, and school communications running smoothly.
This is not a hands-on daily childcare role. Instead, we need someone who excels at planning, organization, and anticipating what our family needs before we do. There will be some times with children but these times will be having them do an activity after school or something similar.
Primary Responsibilities
Family Calendar & Scheduling
- Maintain a comprehensive family calendar covering all family members—kids' after-school activities, sports, school events, and adult/family commitments
- Keep the calendar at least two weeks out at all times, so the family always has visibility into what's coming
- Coordinate logistics such as who is picking up/dropping off whom, and from where
- Proactively flag scheduling conflicts and help resolve them before they become problems
Activity Planning
- Plan kids' after-school activities for the days you are not on-site, so the rest of the week is organized in advance
- Research and suggest activity options that fit the kids' interests and the family's schedule
School Communications
- Review all school communications (emails, newsletters, portals, etc.)
- Ensure all family members are informed of relevant school happenings—deadlines, events, forms, announcements
Meal Planning & Prep
- Plan meals for the week ahead of time
- Cook dinner on your days you are at the house (3 days)
- Manage grocery shopping to support the week's meal plan and household needs
Kids' Laundry & Organization
- Handle kids' laundry
- Keep kids' spaces and belongings organized
On-Site Day Duties
- Pick the kids up from school on your work days
- Cook dinner for the family the evenings you are at the house
- Handle any other same-day family needs
General Household Support
- Run errands and handle miscellaneous household tasks as needed
- Support the family with whatever comes up that helps things run more smoothly
What We're Looking For
- Highly organized with strong planning and calendar-management skills
- Proactive — anticipates needs and plans ahead rather than waiting to be asked
- Reliable and detail-oriented, especially with schedules and school communications
- Comfortable managing multiple moving parts across family members' schedules
- Capable in the kitchen — comfortable with meal planning, prepping, and cooking for a family
- Trustworthy, as this role involves close involvement with our family's daily life
- Warm and Caring – this person is going to be a part of our family and we want them to integrate with our family as much as possible
