Job Summary:
The Lifestyle & Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day aquatics operations, lifeguard oversight, recreation programming, youth services, and Kids Club support within the medical fitness environment. This role ensures a safe, compliant, and member-focused experience by maintaining appropriate staffing levels, monitoring pool safety and water quality standards, supporting emergency preparedness, and reinforcing department policies, procedures, and service expectations. The Supervisor provides direct guidance, training, scheduling support, and performance feedback to Lifeguards and Kids Club attendants while partnering with Fitness, Group Exercise, and other department leaders to deliver high-quality aquatic and lifestyle programming. The position is accountable for promoting participant safety, regulatory compliance, operational consistency, program quality, and a positive experience for members, guests, children, and families.
Essential Functions:
- Aquatics Operations: Oversee aquatics operations including staffing, water quality monitoring, and safety compliance. Monitor pool chemistry and ensure compliance with local health department standards. Collaborate with Fitness and Group Exercise departments for aquatic classes.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise lifeguards, Kids Club attendants, and recreation programming. Develop schedules, conduct training, and manage certifications.
- Safety/Compliance: Maintain written aquatics policies and emergency action plans. Conduct regular aquatics safety drills and maintain documentation.
- Programming: Develop safe and engaging youth programming.
- Member Service: Resolve member concerns and oversee customer service standards.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, or related field Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, or related field Preferred
- 1 year Lifeguard or aquatics instruction Required
- 1 year Lead or supervisory experience Required
- 1 year Aquatics leadership Preferred
- 1 year Recreation and Lifestyle experience Preferred
- 3 years Daycare, youth programming experience Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Certification, CPR/AED Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification, Required
- Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPC) - Certificate, Background check/Fingerprinting Required
- Lifeguard certification Required
- Water Safety Instructor or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO/CPO) Required
- Swim Instructor certification Required
- Lifeguard Instructor certification (willing to obtain upon hire) Preferred
- Aquatics group exercise certifications Preferred
