Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse to join our specialized healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill newborns and infants within a Level III or Level IV neonatal intensive care setting. Your expertise will support the health and development of our most vulnerable patients through advanced clinical practices, compassionate patient care, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, familiarity with neonatal resuscitation procedures, and proficiency in electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert nursing care to neonates requiring intensive monitoring, including ventilator management, IV infusion, and medication administration.
• Conduct thorough assessments of neonatal patients, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
• Implement specialized procedures such as neonatal resuscitation, tube feeding management, and aseptic technique adherence.
• Monitor and interpret diagnostic evaluations, laboratory results, and imaging reports to inform patient treatment plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized care plans aligned with NICU protocols.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate families on neonatal care practices, discharge planning, and ongoing health management.
• Respond promptly to emergencies using critical care response procedures and neonatal resuscitation protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on infection control, patient safety, and adherence to NCQA standards.
• Support interdisciplinary team efforts in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and long-term developmental support.

Skills

• Proven experience in neonatal intensive care units (NICU), including Level II or Level III trauma center experience preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of neonatal physiology, airway management, ventilator use, and aseptic techniques.
• Skilled in medication administration specific to neonates, including IV insertion and catheter care.
• Ability to perform detailed patient assessments and respond effectively during acute emergencies.
• Experience working with families of critically ill infants and providing compassionate education.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
• Familiarity with laboratory specimen collection/processing and diagnostic evaluation protocols.
• Capable of managing complex cases involving prematurity, congenital anomalies, or developmental disabilities.
• Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and family support.

Pay: $87,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
