Position title: Financial Analyst
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Summary:
The Financial Analyst supports the organization’s financial planning and business operations by analyzing financial data, preparing reports, monitoring budgets, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. This role collaborates cross-functionally to evaluate financial performance, identify trends, support forecasting activities, and help ensure accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency in a dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, coordinate, and document financial analysis projects; such as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital, and investments
- Generate estimates at complete, monitor contract performance to budget and schedule, track performance, and report variances and recovery plans as required by the program manager
- Perform a wide array of financial analysis including unit cost manufacturing, production cost pools, and tracking material movement to ensure proper cost allocations
- Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to senior management
- Provide analysis for forward-looking financial and business-related projects
- Work with other team members to identify and standardize best processes to drive consistency across various programs and analysts
- Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately
- Spearhead the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes
- Identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
- Develop models that help with decision-making
- May conduct special financial and business-related studies and cooperates with other departments in the preparation of analyses
- Prepare forecasts and analysis of trends in manufacturing, sales, finance, general business conditions, and other related areas
- Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and present findings to senior management
- Oversight of junior team members
- Other duties as assigned
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in finance, financial planning & analysis, investment banking, or other related fields.
Required Skills:
- High proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, SharePoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of government accounting (FAR) and GAAP
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to accuracy and detail required
- Advanced knowledge of Resource Planning and financial systems; internet and computer literacy.
- Advanced professional communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.
Preferred Skills
- Strong project management skills and ability to contribute to or lead part of a multi-functional team.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field
ITAR Requirements
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Other Requirements
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
