Wilkie Sanderson is a custom manufacturer of fine wood cabinetry, institutional casegoods, solid surface products, and architectural millwork for the commercial construction industry.
We are seeking a well-organized Project Manager Assistant to join our dynamic team. A qualified candidate will work closely with our Commercial Project Managers and Executive team, assisting them to oversee large-scale projects from start to finish. The job of the Project Manager Assistant is to provide support to the project management team through multiple tasks including clerical, documentation, ordering of materials, project milestone tracking, attending jobsite meetings both virtual and in person, assistance in field verification, assisting our installation team, and other duties deemed necessary by the project manager. This position will work closely with multiple project managers through the course of projects. This position is a learning and growth position with the goal that the appropriate candidate will eventually advance into a Commercial Project Manager position when the candidate has met the requirements for advancement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Professional representation to both internal and external customers
- Assist in review of project plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings helping to identify potential cost saving measure
- Help monitor and maintain the project schedule, addressing significant schedule slippage.
- Assist in creation of bill of materials and ordering of materials
- Represent Wilkie Sanderson at project site meetings (virtually and in-person)
- Assist in managing and analyzing job requirements, defining scope, and setting project timelines for submittals, fabrication, installation, and effectively communicate project milestones both internally and externally
- Interface and collaborate with the onsite Superintendent, inspectors, trade partners, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients as deemed necessary by Project Manager
- Assumes other responsibilities and tasks as required by project and executive team
- This position is for an IN HOUSE/IN OFFICE position and a typical day will be in a professional office setting or at a jobsite when needed
Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in project management, construction, manufacturing, or millwork or related education
- Proficient with computers and competence in Microsoft Office applications. (Experience with Excel and Teams desired)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in problem solving/analysis
- Ability to always maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to travel nationwide to meet the needs of the project as well as attain and check field measurements and coordinate with other trades to ensure successful delivery and installation
- Ability to pass drug screening
Desired but not required:
- Associate degree in construction management, Wood Technology, or related field.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment (Millwork or finish goods desired, but not required.)
- Able to read architectural drawings/blueprints
- Familiarity with Innergy ERP
- Familiar with ERP/MRP solutions
- BlueBeam Experience
- AutoCad Experience
- Procore/Submittal Exchange experience
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, organize, and implement alternate solutions to challenges
- Knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standards
