The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at St. Catherine University invites applications for an Adjunct Lab Instructor and Level I Fieldwork Educator position.
Adjunct Lab Instructors and Level I Fieldwork Educators for the St. Catherine University Occupational Therapy Assistant Program will teach and evaluate students in a face-to-face lab setting to support the curricular content students are learning online. High-need locations include Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; San Jose, CA; and Fairfax, VA. Additional locations include San Antonio, TX; St. Paul, MN; and Redlands, CA.
Lab instructors will lead 4 lab experiences in a 16 week semester across 3 semesters. Each lab experience is 5 hours spent with the students to deliver the content and includes time to set up before and clean-up after the lab. Labs are held on Sunday afternoons. Specific dates are provided at the time of hire. Detailed lab manuals and consultation with faculty will be available for ongoing support.
Additionally, a collaboration meeting is held before the lab with the Course Manager to discuss details of the lab experiences and the content. The Lab Instructors complete a post-survey to communicate strengths and weaknesses of the lab as well as a debrief with the Course Instructor after the lab. These communication expectations support and build a stronger connection to successful student outcomes.
It is expected that face-to-face lab instructors will collaborate with, and accept direction and supervision from, the didactic course instructors who have primary responsibility forteaching the associated online course(s).
Responsibilities:
Adjunct lab instructors report to the Coordinator of OTA Online Programs.

Substitute lab instructors are also needed for occasional coverage, occasionally with short notice.

Contribute to teaching, evaluating and revising course content and learning experiences for the face-to-face labs to promote student learning.

Maintain consistent and on-going communication and coordination with online didactic course instructor teaching the associated online course to ensure labs support course content.

Maintain site and equipment/materials to assure the appropriate amount of materials and the condition of site, equipment, and materials are conducive to an effective learning experience.

Provide excellence in teaching with a diverse student population.

In coordination with the didactic course instructor, provide excellence in labrelated advising.

Use learner-centered strategies.

Adhere to the defined grading procedures and standards in accordance with the grading policies of the University.

Establish positive relationships with students to promote their success.

Model professional attitudes and behaviors.

Provide prompt, quality feedback and advising to students.

Lab Instructors and Level I Fieldwork Educators are employed on a per-semester basis, usually for no more than twelve credits per academic year. Service as an adjunct does not count toward promotion and tenure. Adjunct Instructors on appointment are expected to meet the clinical, academic and professional responsibilities that are specified in their contracts and are congruent with appointment status.
