Integrated Health Partners (IHP) of Southern California is seeking a Manager of Managed Care Operations to oversee and operationalize managed care initiatives across the clinically integrated network and its federally qualified health center (FQHC) members. This role serves as a key people leader and operational bridge between strategy and execution, translating the managed care vision and priorities established by the Director of Managed Care Operations into measurable outcomes.
The Manager of Managed Care Operations provides day-to-day leadership and direction to the Network Practice Support Manager team, ensuring consistent, high-quality support to member health centers. This position is accountable for operational performance related to managed care contracts, payer readiness, practice transformation support, and cross-functional coordination. The Manager leads through a combination of people management, program oversight, and hands-on problem-solving, while partnering closely with internal teams, MSO vendors, and payer partners.
This role actively supports the mission and vision of Health Center Partners of Southern California and its subsidiaries by strengthening managed care operations, supporting value-based care success, and enabling scalable, sustainable network performance.
Essential Job Functions
People Leadership & Team Oversight
· Directly manage, coach, and develop Network Practice Support Manager(s) and Senior Network Practice Support Manager(s), ensuring clarity of roles, priorities, and performance expectations.
· Assign and oversee portfolios, projects, and health center engagements to ensure appropriate coverage, workload balance, and alignment with network priorities.
· Provide ongoing feedback, performance management, and professional development support to build a high-performing managed care operations team.
· Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Managed Care Operations Leadership
· Oversee the execution of managed care operational support provided to member health centers, ensuring alignment with payer contracts, network policies, and regulatory requirements.
· Support implementation and ongoing operations of managed care agreements, including primary care capitation and value-based arrangements, in partnership with the Director of Managed Care Operations.
· Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk operational issues related to payer performance, eligibility, referrals, revenue cycle workflows, and operational readiness.
Network & Health Center Partnership
· Partner with health center executive, clinical, and operational leadership to support managed care readiness, performance improvement, and adoption of network standards.
· Ensure consistent, high-quality engagement with member health centers through the practice support team, including onsite and virtual support.
· Support alignment between health center operations and payer, MSO, and network expectations.
Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration
· Collaborate closely with internal IHP teams (e.g., contracting, quality, data analytics, finance) to ensure coordinated managed care operations.
· Partner with MSO vendors to support operational execution, monitor performance metrics, and address service gaps impacting network or health center performance.
· Support payer relationships through operational coordination, issue resolution, and preparation for audits, readiness reviews, and performance discussions.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
· Monitor operational performance indicators related to managed care operations, practice support effectiveness, and health center engagement.
· Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement; partner with the Director of Managed Care Operations to develop and implement corrective or enhancement strategies.
· Support the development and dissemination of standardized tools, workflows, playbooks, and training materials across the network.
Reporting & Communication
· Prepare and contribute to operational reports, dashboards, and executive updates related to managed care operations and practice support activities.
· Communicate clearly and effectively with leadership, health centers, and internal teams regarding priorities, expectations, and outcomes.
· Perform other duties as assigned to support managed care operations and network success.
Qualifications
Required Skills
· Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects from concept through execution.
· Advanced understanding of managed care, FQHC operations, and value-based care models.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify insights, and translate findings into action.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to executive and clinical audiences.
· Proven ability to influence without authority and build trust-based relationships across organizations.
· High level of adaptability, critical thinking, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
· Strong project management skills, including prioritization, planning, and execution across multiple concurrent initiatives.
· Deep understanding of HIPAA and regulatory compliance; ability to identify and escalate risks appropriately.
· Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation; flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends within a 40-hour workweek.
· Ability to travel locally and nationally as required.

*Compensation will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications. The range reflects the full compensation band for the role, with placement within the range based on overall alignment to the position.
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
