Lilac Hedge Farm is seeking a sous chef to join our prep and service kitchen team for a full time year round position. This will see work in both a prep kitchen creating frozen meals, and our service kitchen once we reopen in the spring.
During the winter we create a wide variety of frozen goods to be sold in our in person and online storefront.
In the spring through fall, the beer garden and farm kitchen are open for long weekends, Usually hosting events and music. We prepare a wide range of foods for both the beer garden and our prepared foods. This includes our set menu and online items, with weekly specials during service.
Responsibilities include:
- Following recipe cards
- Keeping storage organized
- Reading and following expiration dates to ensure all products used are good
- Prepping and stocking a station (grill, fry, pizza, and pantry)
- Maintaining inventory on that station, FIFO
- Preparing a variety of meals to order
- Communicating clearly with team to coordinate flawless execution
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Assisting other kitchen staff, bar staff, and porters with their duties
- Maintaining a positive, service-oriented mindset
- Leading a kitchen team in tandem with our head chef
- Prepping a weeks worth of work and following the tasks in a time effective order
- Working with our head chef to create new recipes
- Revamping old recipes
- Teaching and directing staff in the kitchen
- Flexibility learning and working on multiple stations
- Learning our online backend
The ideal candidate will have:

All line cooks, food runners, bussers, and kitchen hands work closely with our Kitchen Manager. We serve simple, good food, in a beautiful, rustic space and take pride in it. Hourly wages are always supplemented with tip pooling during the open service season. All applicants will be considered. Strongest workers will be rewarded.
