Job Overview
Position Summary
The Electronics Installer is responsible for the layout, installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of marine electronic systems on Viking yachts. This position requires the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and craftsmanship. The Electronics Installer will install complete electronic systems and diagnose complex electrical and electronic issues in support of new boat construction and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify marine electronic systems including navigation, communication, entertainment, and monitoring equipment.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and installation instructions.
- Route, terminate, and secure wiring, cables, and electronic components according to company and industry standards.
- Perform operational testing and final system verification to ensure proper function and quality.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electronic and electrical issues efficiently.
- Utilize various hand tools, power tools, testing devices, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain productivity levels that meet or exceed departmental budgets and production schedules.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple assignments and priorities.
- Collaborate with production teams, supervisors, and other trades to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Experience installing and troubleshooting marine, automotive, industrial, or similar electronic systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of DC electrical systems, wiring practices, and electronic equipment installation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying production and shop environments.
