About the Role
We’re a growing precision CNC machine shop serving aerospace, defense, and space customers. We’re looking for a hands-on Planner/Scheduler who owns the production plan end-to-end — from materials and outside processing to machine scheduling and delivery commitments.
This role is critical to our on-time delivery, machine utilization, and overall operating rhythm. You’ll work closely with the President, Production Manager, Programmers, and Shop Floor Leads to ensure jobs are released correctly, scheduled realistically, and supported with the right material and OSP at the right time.
If you enjoy bringing order to complexity, working cross-functionally, and being accountable for results — this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Build, maintain, and continuously refine the master production schedule based on customer demand, capacity, and constraints
- Sequence work across CNC machines considering setups, tooling, labor availability, and priorities
- Maintain short-term (daily/weekly) and mid-term (monthly) production plans
- Identify risks to schedule early and communicate impacts clearly
Materials & Purchasing
- Plan and purchase raw materials to support scheduled work
- Maintain accurate inventory visibility and avoid shortages or excess
Outside Processing (OSP)
- Manage all outside services (plating, heat treat, grinding, coating, etc.)
- Coordinate ship-to and return dates to align with production schedules
- Track OSP WIP and proactively resolve delays
Order Management & Communication
- Track customer orders through the entire production lifecycle
- Provide accurate, timely status updates to Customer Service
- Adjust schedules dynamically as priorities or conditions change
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
- Analyze schedule performance, bottlenecks, and missed deliveries
- Improve planning accuracy, release discipline, and flow
- Maintain clean data in ERP and scheduling systems
- Generate reports on shipments, WIP, backlog, and schedule adherence
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience in production planning and scheduling in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of machine ship/ job shop workflows
- Experience with ERP and scheduling systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Clear, direct communicator who follows through
Nice to Have
- Aerospace / defense manufacturing experience
- Experience managing outside processing vendors
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts

- Office adjacent to an active CNC machine shop
- Frequent interaction with shop floor, engineering, and leadership
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment
- High visibility role with real ownership and impact
