Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our growing team. This role includes structural analysis, design, and engineering across a wide range of project types—from wood-frame construction to metal-framed structures and pre-engineered metal buildings requiring foundation design.
The ideal candidate has experience designing for heavy snow loads and high seismic conditions and is currently licensed in Washington State (minimum requirement), with a verifiable and expeditious path to Alaska licensure. Licensure in Alaska is strongly preferred, and licensure in Oregon, Montana, and/or Idaho is also considered a plus.
Colder climate experience highly preferred
Licensing:
Candidates must be licensed in Washington State and then obtain licensure in Alaska by September 2026. This requires 2 professional letters of reference for a 5-year period, minimum as well as passing the Cold Climate Engineering course. Company assistance will be provided to viable candidates.
This is a remote position with occasional site visits (company-covered travel).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct independent engineering work, applying professional judgment in structural design and analysis.
- Develop and adapt drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs.
- Perform structural analysis and design in accordance with governing codes, standards, and engineering principles.
- Collaborate closely with architects and interior designers to integrate effective structural solutions.
- Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent and applicable codes.
- Conduct occasional site visits as required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed structural engineer (10+ years preferred).
- Experience with cold-region design, high seismic zones, heavy snow loads, and high wind conditions strongly preferred.
Licensing:
- Required: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State.
- Preferred and needed soon: Active PE license in Alaska.
- If not licensed in Alaska: Demonstrated ability to obtain Alaska licensure promptly via NCEES comity, including completion of the Cold Regions Engineering course and all other Alaska requirements.
- Licensure in Oregon, Montana, and/or Idaho is a plus.
- Candidates must be prepared to provide proof of all current professional licenses.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from a U.S.-accredited institution.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (RISA 3D or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and engineering standards.
- Experience with computer-assisted design and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Work Environment & Eligibility
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, team-oriented environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen residing in the United States.
- Preference for candidates located in the western U.S. to support frequent virtual collaboration.

- Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM PST
