Manufacturing Engineer, Reliability
We are growing our Advanced Component Technologies team and looking for a Design and Development Engineer who is ready to shape next-generation supply chain and technology platforms. This is a high-impact opportunity for a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, root cause analysis, and product development. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, qualification, and problem-resolution strategies that help MSEI deliver exceptional product quality, reliability, volume, delivery, and cost performance.
What You’ll Lead
- Lead the definition and deployment of technology platforms for new product applications through testing, simulation, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Qualification of components for use in surface mount electronic manufacturing.
- Lead structured root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts with suppliers, development teams, manufacturing, and quality partners to identify failure mechanisms, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
- Apply disciplined root cause analysis methods to component, supplier, process, and manufacturing issues, using data, failure analysis, and cross-functional input to drive durable technical solutions.
- Lead testing and validation of components for high reliability applications, by performing use case based electrical and environmental stress tests.
- Implementation tasks including leading stage-gate approvals, documentation, supplier quality interface, characterization, verification and on-going sustaining support in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
- Partner with internal and external customers to evaluate substrate designs and provide design-for-manufacturability and design-for-reliability recommendations.
- Develop long-term technology roadmaps that anticipate future product needs and position the organization for scalable growth.
- Assess, communicate, and qualify supplier process changes while influencing key stakeholders across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain.
- Conduct supplier audits, both domestic and international, to strengthen supplier capability and ensure technical and quality expectations are met
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc. or M.Sc in Chemical engineering, Material Science, or equivalent physical science, with evidence of high academic achievement.
- 4-8 years experience with manufacturing rigid and flex PCB assemblies
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and experiments from concept through completion while meeting schedule, quality, and business objectives.
- Strong experience leading root cause analysis, packaging defect analysis, failure analysis, root cause determination, and supplier corrective action through closure.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, including clear technical writing for quality-relevant documentation.
- Strong physics-based reasoning and the ability to translate technical data into practical engineering decisions.
- Proven ability to influence across Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Test, and Module/System Development teams to drive alignment and closure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment.
