The Supply Chain Manager plays a strategic and tactical role in ensuring the seamless and cost-effective flow of materials, components, and finished goods across the supply chain. This role will be responsible for managing:
- In-house production of dental care products
- External co-packers and contract manufacturers
- Global procurement of ingredients and packaging components
- Turnkey manufacturing relationships and logistics
You will lead supply chain activities that directly impact production planning, service levels, cost optimization, and inventory management. You will serve as a key liaison between internal teams (Operations, Quality, Regulatory, R&D) and external partners, and report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:✅ Procurement & Global Sourcing
- Develop and manage procurement strategies for critical raw materials (e.g., sorbitol, fluoride, surfactants), flavors, active ingredients, essential oils, and excipients used in dental products.
- Source global suppliers for primary and secondary packaging (e.g., plastic/aluminum tubes, bottles, pumps, cartons, laminates, shrink sleeves, and caps).
- Build and maintain a robust supplier base in the U.S., Asia, and Europe for both ingredients and packaging materials.
- Evaluate and onboard turnkey manufacturers for full-service production of branded or private label products.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and lead times with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and risk mitigation.
- Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and delivery reliability.
✅ Production & Co-Packer Management
- Coordinate with in-house production teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
- Act as the main point of contact for co-packers, overseeing production timelines, order processing, inventory coordination, and delivery schedules.
- Supply materials/components to co-packers when required under hybrid supply models.
- Monitor co-packer performance on KPIs such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF), yield, quality deviations, and responsiveness.
- Ensure alignment of production planning with forecasted demand, product launches, and promotional campaigns.
✅ Turnkey Product Management
- Identify, qualify, and manage external suppliers for turnkey items, including mouthwash, toothpaste, teeth whitening kits, flossers, and more.
- Ensure all turnkey vendors meet regulatory, quality, and brand standards.
- Track timelines for product development, sample approvals, label compliance, and production readiness for turnkey items.
- Coordinate importation of turnkey products, manage shipping schedules, and maintain order accuracy.
✅ Inventory & Demand Planning
- Work closely with Demand Planning, Sales, and Marketing to forecast product needs and plan procurement and production accordingly.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels across raw materials, components, and finished goods to support business continuity.
- Implement safety stock policies and demand planning tools to reduce stockouts or overages.
- Ensure regular reconciliation and root cause analysis of inventory variances.
✅ Logistics & International Supply Chain
- Manage international logistics including ocean freight, air freight, customs clearance, and warehousing for both raw materials and finished goods.
- Collaborate with 3PLs, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure on-time deliveries and cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor shipping costs, lead times, duties, and tariffs, and optimize freight consolidation opportunities.
- Track and resolve shipping discrepancies, damage claims, and supplier delivery issues.
✅ Systems, Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate data and planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle).
- Ensure compliance with all internal quality standards and external regulations (GMP, FDA, ISO, etc.).
- Maintain thorough documentation for procurement contracts, supply agreements, and supplier certifications (COAs, MSDS, etc.).
- Support quality and regulatory audits by providing necessary supply chain documentation and traceability.
Qualifications:Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar certification strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 7–10 years of progressive supply chain experience in CPG, oral care, personal care, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Proven track record managing both in-house and external manufacturing (co-packers, turnkey vendors).
- Strong knowledge of global sourcing, especially for ingredients and packaging materials.
- Hands-on experience with import/export, international logistics, and customs documentation.
- Familiarity with dental care product formulations and regulatory environments (e.g., FDA OTC monograph, ISO 22716) preferred.
