Position: K-8 Library AssistantSchedule: 32.5 hours weeklyOverview: While Medford Public Schools library paraprofessionals are not instructional staff they are encouraged toinspire a love of reading in students and staff while managing the collections, reading stories (K-5),conducting reader's advisories (6-8), checking out books and assisting teachers during their scheduledlibrary times as well as providing level 1 technology services in their respective buildings.Duties: Oversee circulation of all library materials and equipment using the automated systemCreate or follow existing class schedules for student library visitsSupervise library volunteer programMonitor students in the libraryManage overdue notices and subsequent paymentsMaintain a neat and organized library environmentAssist technology department with equipment management during mandatory statewidetesting and provide level 1on-site troubleshooting for technical difficulties within thebuilding in collaboration with the technology support specialistsQualifications: Some library experience, Bachelor's Degree preferred or Associate's DegreeKnowledge of computers, keyboarding, basic computer troubleshooting,Attention to detailPlease note: Preference will be given to library assistants who are interested in workingtowards certification as a Library Teacher, Library Technology Specialist, MLS, or related.Full Time Benefit Eligible183 days$35,000.00 per year
