We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our clinical team with working a 2/3 block schedule and 12-hour shifts.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse (RN) at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to geriatric and adolescent patients receiving acute inpatient behavioral health treatment. The RN plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while supporting each patient's physical, emotional, and psychiatric needs throughout their treatment and recovery journey.
Geriatric Patient Population
RNs assigned to the Geriatric Unit provide comprehensive nursing care to older adults with acute psychiatric disorders, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health conditions. Responsibilities include performing thorough patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring physical and mental status, and evaluating patient responses to care. RNs also implement fall prevention and safety measures, document patient progress, respond to changes in condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to promote recovery and quality of life.
Adolescent Patient Population
RNs assigned to the Adolescent Unit provide nursing care to adolescents experiencing acute behavioral health and psychiatric disorders. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring emotional and behavioral status, and supporting therapeutic interventions. RNs maintain a safe and structured environment, respond to crisis situations, utilize de-escalation techniques, document patient progress, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to promote stabilization, healthy coping skills, and recovery.
Regardless of assignment, the RN is responsible for observing patient behaviors, documenting and reporting changes in condition, utilizing therapeutic communication, ensuring patient safety, and delivering high-quality behavioral healthcare. RNs also collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other team members while providing education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and ongoing care needs.
